350 NOVA ISTRA Literary, Art and Cultural Journal Zeitschrift für Literatur, Kunst und Kultur Rivista di letteratura, arte e cultura Pula, Croatia / Kroatien / Croazia, No. 3-4/2016 The introductory section presents pieces of prose and poetry writing by contempo- rary Croatian authors. While some of them are well-distinguished, the others are young and still “unknown” but their time is surely coming. We have also included a cycle of dialectal (Chakavian) poems since dialectal literature is a source of contem- porary national literature and very vivid in any Croatian region. The translation section includes excerpts from French, Italian, Polish and Cana- dian literature, here translated into Croatian for the first time. Besides, there is the text which reminds us of 60 th anniversary of the Hungarian Rebellion against the Soviet communist oppression, for the clean face of socialism; it was suppressed and run over by the Soviet tanks, recording a considerable number of the Hungarian victims. The central topic of this volume refers to the complete translation of the entire issue of the Columbian journal La Opinión ( The Opinion), comprising texts by literary and other distinguished authors, published in 2014 to commemorate the death of the great writer Gabriel García Márquez. The essay section presents, for instance, the philosophical text on the relationship between frenzy and aesthetics ( the psycho-technique of life ), and the autobiographical record about the experiences in the Democratic Republic of Germany from the per- spective of a Croatian university intellectual in the second half of 20 th century, along with his vivid, direct memories of the fall of the Berlin wall. In the native region section, we briefly depict the lives of some important Croati- an intellectual people from Istria in 20 th century, and remember their works. Finally, there are also published a few reviews regarding some newly-released bo- oks in the fields of literature, memoire writing and historiography. Translation: R. Šamo, Pula
