Nova Istra
192 NOVA ISTRA Journal for Literature, Art and Culture Zeitschrift für Literatur, Kunst und Kultur Rivista di letteratura, arte e cultura Pula, Croatia / Kroatien / Croazia, No. 3/2017 As usual, the first contributions are written by contemporary Croatian authors – different in terms of generational and aesthetic criteria – being either well-esta- blished or promising new-comers to the Croatian literature of today. This time their writing belongs to the genres of poetry and short stories. The r eadership will be familiar with three contemporary writers from Germany, Hungary and Croatia (the Italian ‘minority’ literature is written also in Istria, Croatia) due to new translations. The essay unit includes texts about the famous Croatian lexicographer and Glago- litic monk, Dragutin Antun Parčić (19th/20th c.), a new book in the field of Croatian studies, and two highly distinguished 20th-century Croatian poets –Vesna Parun and Josip Sever. This is followed by a comprehensive and detailed text in the field of architectural philosophy. ‘At Marul’s’ – a unit to honour Marko Marulić (Marcus Marulus Spalatensis), the gre at Croatian and European writer, thinker and intellectual of Christian and hu- manistic orientation – presents poems by several poets, who were the participants in the 5 th meeting of younger writers, held in Pula in May, 2016. After the unit with native region contributions, which contains a complete story in Chakavian as the oldest Croatian dialect, a few recent publications (poetry, novel and memoirs) are reviewed.
