IGOR GRBIĆ, born in Pula (1970). After finishing the secondary school in his home-town, studied English and indology in Zagreb. Spent the academic year of 1997/98 as the first visiting Croatian language and literature instructor at the New Delhi University. Writes poetry, fiction, essays and professional papers. Also translates from English, Italian, German and Hindu. Candidate for a doctor’s degree (theory and history of literature) at the English Department, Faculty of Philosophy, Zagreb, and a member of the Istrian branch of the Croatian Writers’Association (DHK). Lives in Pula, where is active as a writer and a translator.
Since 2004 has participated in the competition of artists in Italian – Istria Nobilissima. The same year received the award for his piece in prose and this year for his poetic achievement.
Igor Grbić has translated some 20 books and Ceres (Zagreb) has just released his book Istrija glagoljušta.
His literary and scientific papers as well as translations have been published by Treći program Hrvatskog radija and in the following journals and newspapers: Čemu, Filmski ljetopis, Glas Istre, Istarska Danica, Književna Rijeka, Književna smotra, La Battana, Libra, Nova Istra, 15 dana, Quorum, Republika, Vijenac, Zarez.
Prepared a couple of entries on the Indian literature, published by Školska knjiga in Leksikon stranih pisaca and Leksikon stranih djela.
